As the year winds down, here is the City of Rancho Cucamonga information that matters most to our community.

Holiday Trash and Recycling

Burrtec does not collect on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 26) or Christmas Day (Friday, December 25). New Year’s Day 2027 falls on a Friday, so service is also paused that day. When a holiday lands on a weekday, collection for the rest of that week is delayed by one day. Please set your containers out on your delayed collection day that week.

Burrtec has offered extra holiday trash pickup and curbside Christmas tree collection on your regular collection day in past years. Trees over 6 feet must be cut in half, and all ornaments, lights, and metal stands must be removed. The 2026 to 2027 dates have not been announced yet. Check with Burrtec at (909) 987-3717 or the City’s Environmental Programs line at (909) 919-2635.

Rain Season Preparedness

The City provides free, self-serve sandbag materials to Rancho Cucamonga residents, businesses, and schools at these fire stations:

Amethyst Fire Station, 6627 Amethyst Ave.
Banyan Fire Station, 11108 Banyan St.
East Ave. Fire Station, 5840 East Ave.
Hellman Fire Station, 9270 Rancho St.

Fill your sandbags before any flooding begins. The City’s ReadyRC page has a short “How to Fill a Sandbag” video. You can also sign up for emergency alerts at cityofrc.us/news/sign-emergency-alerts. For emergency preparedness questions, contact the RCFD Emergency Management Division at (909) 477-2770 or ReadyRC@CityofRC.us. In an emergency, always call 911.

2026 General Election: Tuesday, November 3

Rancho Cucamonga voters will elect a Mayor and Council Members for Districts 2 and 3. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Register to vote by Monday, October 19. Register or check your status at registertovote.ca.gov.
Vote by mail: Return your ballot at any of the City’s six outdoor drop boxes: City Hall (10500 Civic Center Dr.), Banyan Fire Station (11108 Banyan St.), Day Creek Fire Station (12270 Fire House Ct.), Public Safety Facility (8870 San Bernardino Rd.), West Valley America’s Job Center (9650 E 9th St.), and Etiwanda School District Education Center (6061 East Ave.).

Campaign signs: The City’s deadline to remove signs from the public right-of-way is November 5.

🌞 Summer Fun in Rancho Cucamonga!

The City of Rancho Cucamonga is hosting a variety of free family-friendly events throughout the summer, and residents of The Heights at Haven View are encouraged to take advantage of these wonderful community activities!

🎵 Concerts in the Park
Enjoy live music every Thursday evening through July 23. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and friends for a relaxing night under the stars. Upcoming performances include DSB on June 25 and additional tribute bands throughout the summer.

🎬 Movies in the Park
Gather the family for free outdoor movie nights this summer. Upcoming showings include Angels in the Outfield on June 23 and June 26, with additional family favorites scheduled through July.

🚲 RC Rides Monthly Bike Ride
Looking for a fun and active way to explore the community? Join Rancho Cucamonga’s monthly bike ride and connect with fellow residents while enjoying local trails and neighborhoods.

🎆 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular
Mark your calendars! Rancho Cucamonga’s annual Independence Day celebration will be held on July 4 at the Epicenter Sports Complex, featuring live entertainment, family activities, and a spectacular fireworks show.

WILDFIRE AWARENESS STARTS AT HOME

History has shown that it’s not a matter of if a wildfire will threaten our community, but when it will happen again. Now is the time to make your home and family resilient during a wildfire:

1. If you live closer to our foothills, create a defensible space around your home that includes low growing plants with high moisture content.

2. Remove dead branches or trees, clear weeds and dry vegetation from around your property.

3. Roofs and eaves are vulnerable to flying embers in a wildfire, so be sure to clean your rain gutters and inspect your attic roof vents for proper installation and integrity.

4. Create and practice an evacuation plan with your household, especially if something happens while people are away from the home.

In addition to preparing our community for wildfires, the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District holds annual wildfire training exercises with state, federal and neighboring agencies. These collaborative trainings help strengthen relationships and refine strategies and tactics for an effective response.

When firefighters and the community work together to be prepared for wildfire season, we can mitigate the risk of a wildfire before it happens!
